Some things run to deep to be forgotten~G

I grew up always hearing people saying forgive and forget, you’re a Christian, forgive 70x70, love like Jesus, forgive like Jesus, why won’t you just let it go, why does it even bug you, while the same people saying those things did the most hypocritical, manipulative twisted things to others all under the guise of religion.

It almost seemed that I grew up knowing a God that only loved those and showed attention to those who followed a certain set of standards: ankle length skirts, cussing/tattoos are the devil, u kiss someone before marriage, ur a disgrace to ur family, u make a mistake or go against the Bible you’re shunned or shamed.

And tbh this pushed me away from church, religion, and even God for a little bit, bc how can you preach to someone to be all of the above, but treat and act the opposite towards other people, how come it is that so called Christians are often times seen as the most judgmental group of people when our very mission statement is: God is love and God accepts everyone and welcomes everyone. I could just not wrap my head around the very hypocrisy that the church so often pushed out.

(This post is also not to put down the whole church or aimed at anyone specifically, I just feel like it needs to be addressed)

But recently I’ve been learning who God is for myself, and he is not this hateful, manipulative being who’s out to slap us across the hand and put us down EVERYTIME we make a mistake and shame us and kick us out of his family. He loves us and welcomes us back with open arms, he is forgiving and long suffering, understanding and accepting and he does not hold our mistakes over our head.

So if this at all resonates with you and you’ve been avoiding the church and God as a whole bc what you’ve seen and experienced with the people, I challenge you to give it another try and to find a community that is real and welcoming and knows who God is, to really dive into the word and find out for yourself….

One of my goals this summer is to get more comfort

One of my goals this summer is to get more comfortable doing fun things and trips solo bc personally I think it’s very important that you can find peace and happiness outside of being dependent on other people and that’s one of the things I struggle with sometimes since I can tend to become emotionally dependent on other people and very sensitive to their emotions and trying to please them, so I’m working on doing more fun things by myself without feeling guilty about it…. This little trip was so fun and Apache behaved so well :)
